Some information on wine consumption, grape production, and wineries in Illinois. Approximately 24,000,000 gallons of wine are consumed in Illinois annually. Currently, Illinois produces <1.5% of total wine consumed in the state. Grape yield from Illinois vineyards varies from 3 to 6 tons per acre. The price for wine grapes varies from $0.30 to $0.40 per pound. The average value of wine grape is about $30,000 per acre.
