Phytophthora Blight of Peppers. Phytophthora blight, caused by Phytophthora capsici, has become a serious threat to pepper production in Illinois. During the past four years, Phytophthora blight caused up to 100% yield losses in commercial pepper fields. Now, we have varieties resistant to P. capsici. For more information, click here.
