Orange Rust of Brambles

Orange rust is a very serious disease of brambles. All varieties of black and purple raspberries and most varieties of blackberries are susceptible to orange rust. Orange rust does not infect red raspberries. Orange rust rarely kills plants, but causes them to be stunted and weakened. Orange rust can be effectively controlled by cultural practices and fungicide application (e.i., Nova and Cabrio). Orange rust develops in Illinois every year and it was identified in south-central Illinois in past week. For more information on orange rust of brambles, click here.
