I. Phytophthora Root Rot of Raspberry Phytophthora root rot, caused by Phytophthora
species, is a serious disease of red, black, and purple raspberries.
This year, Phytophthora root rot has been observed in some of the raspberry
production sites in Illinois. The disease has been observed in Illinois
in the past years. The disease can be managed by avoiding the introduction
of the pathogen to the production site, selecting a well-drained production
site, planting resistant or less susceptible varieties, and using fungicides.
